Limited edition shoes by Mario Bemer for PG

Gentlemen,

Today we enter our second year of “PG Limited Editions”, where you can learn about some of the finest craftsmen on earth, and interact directly with top ateliers of the highest tier of quality, talent, stylistic acumen, artisanal integrity and advanced ergonomics.

The ateliers you read about in these pages have been included based on a strong and hard-earned reputation reinforced by extensive and repetitive feedback from customers we’ve interacted with over the last decade, not just for exceptional products, but also for quality of service (and we continue to refine the list based on your feedback).

In other words, it is not possible for us to discuss and show any atelier’s work, unless we have a depth of belief in their proven level of artisanship and service, which must be notable in their field.

MARIO BEMER

Brother to the sorely missed Stefano Bemer, Mario Bemer opened a small workshop-boutique in downtown Florence almost five years ago, after parting ways with the then new Sefano Bemer operation.

Mario built his team with his long time working partner Japanese bespoke bootmaker extraordinaire Seiji Miyagawa, a man fully dedicated to his craft–who was once highly underrated, but has since built a bustling reputation. Seiji trained in Japan, France, and of course Italy, with Stefano Bemer himself.

Directing the Mario Bemer operation is Luca Nardini, a leather expert whose family has been in the high-end tannery business for generations. Luca plays an integral role in sourcing extraordinary leather which is beautiful to the eye with the right balance of suppleness and durability to be comfortable on the foot, while rendering reliable wear, year after year.

With this special team around him, Mario unleashed his gift of designing stunning shoes–all crafted in Florence and not sourced from other countries, as is so often the case with other makers (even very famous ones).

Working directly with his local atelier, Mario Bemer has rendered some shoes that look and feel like art on the foot, and has set his work far apart from the status quo.

The models created in the workshop are simply stunning and the prices at Mario Bemer remain relatively reasonable for this level of craftsmanship, add-ons and exemplary service.

It is with a full heart of respect, that today we have the great pleasure to launch our 8th limited edition with shoemaker extraordinaire Mario Bemer in Florence.

Mario, Luca and business manager Laura have pushed the limits of this “Limited Edition” by doing what they always do—going the extra mile (after mile) to create a collection with add-ons and enhancements which are only found here in this specific work they have put together for you, readers of Parisian Gentleman.

Please enjoy this viewing of a frankly beautiful collection of four models, focusing on

  • quality of make and finishing,
  • originality of the designs,
  • rarity of some of the material used,
  • and “royal treatment” of customers, with unprecedented add-ons.

To date, this atelier has gone the furthest to create with us an experience of exclusivity, because it is Mario Bemer and Luca Nardini’s nature to push their work to limits that some would label insanity–likely the reason their business is burgeoning today.

FOUR MODELS EXCLUSIVELY FOR PG READERS

These four models of shoes aim to cover most all situations and occasions of life : from dandy-esque Spectators with a toned down flair-element for versatile wearability, to the most enduring classic Oxfords, from Tassel Loafers made from either strict cordovan or precious resort-style “intrecciato” (woven) leather.

Finally, you’ll discover two specially designed Mario Bemer sartorial sneakers, lovingly embellished with their trademark sewn-in leather crescent. Since the launching of his brand, Mario has been noticed for his talent of creating casual-chic shoes. These sneakers are an ultimate expression of his special flair.

Hence the Royal Menu of exceptional shoes, produced and numbered with brass nails under the sole in very small quantities : sartorial wonders to last a lifetime.

In terms of pricing, each model of this limited edition is also an extremely fair deal for shoes of this level of quality and craftsmanship. A fully handwelted shoe is normally priced in Ready-to-Wear around 900 euros. In a Made-to-Order version (like all the shoes of this limited edition), 20% is typically added to the price to reach 1,100 euros. Most of the time, you would also have to add around 100 euros for the shoe trees and another 100 euros for metal tips. For these small batches, not only the price includes shoe trees and metal tips, but also some unheard of sophisticated add-ons like a luxury wooden box engraved with your monograms, hand nailed brass nails for both your initials and the number of the shoe in the series (1/10 for example). Even the shipment is included, wherever you live in the world !

Model 1 : The “Hugo” Spectator Shoe

This bi-material version of box calf and suede of the emblematic Spectator shoe is quite original and has been sketched and designed in front of our eyes by Mario Bemer himself.

A Balmoral perforation line runs in a straight line from the wingtip to the back of the shoe for a calming effect which retains a dandy flair while toning the shoe down just enough to make it more versatile to wear for different occasions.

The original features on these Spectators are crafted in black, brown and blue, giving this limited model of ten pairs, true personality :

Entirely hand-welted on the squared 165 last, these Spectators are offered with exceptional features and add-ons, all included in the price :

  • Mario Bemers’s leather sole with rubber injections for maximum flexibility and comfort
  • 3 widths (E, EE and EEE)
  • Metal tips
  • Hand nailed brass monograms.
  • Hand nailed number of the shoe (1/10).
  • Shoe trees
  • A suede travel protection bag
  • A wooden box with your initials engraved on it.

Available in three colors (black, brown and blue), this Spectator shoe is offered for 1,250 euros, with all the above features and add-ons included. Even the shipment is included, no matter where you live in the world.

Model 2 : The “Oliver” Oxford

I confess that my all-time preferred personal bespoke Oxford has been crafted by Seiji Miyagawa at Mario Bemer, not only for the beauty of the art itself, but also for immaculate comfort with no break-in time needed. Below is a photo of my personal pair:

With this bespoke pair in mind, Mario designed for this limited edition a “Made-to-Order” version which is particularly appealing and very versatile (165 squared last).

This quintessential classic Oxford represents, in my opinion, the absolute must-have for any quality shoe lover and gentleman. If you should own only one pair of classic shoes, I believe it should be this one, in either black, brown or burgundy.

These Oxfords, like all the models of this PG limited edition, are offered with features and add-ons of the highest level (all included in the price) :

  • The famous Mario Bemers’s leather sole with rubber injections for maximum flexibility and comfort
  • 3 widths (E, EE and EEE)
  • Metal tips
  • Hand nailed brass monograms
  • Hand nailed number of the shoe (1/10)
  • Shoe trees
  • A suede travel protection bag
  • A wooden box with your initials engraved on it.

For this Oxford, you will also have the possibility to choose to add (or not) the traditional Florentine medallion on the cap toe:

Available only here, in three colors (black, brown and burgundy), this wonderful classic Oxford is offered for 1,150 euros with all the above features and add-ons included. Even shipment is included, no matter where you live in the world.

Strictly limited to 10 pairs by color. Delivery time : 4 weeks.

Model 3 : The “LUCA” Tassel Loafer

These exclusive models of Tassel Loafers are offered in two different “moods”: strict luxurious cordovan or precious “intrecciato” breathable woven leather. The latter is an ideal shoe for situations when a classic shoe doesn’t fit the occasion, yet a dress shoe is still needed.

The design of the models are classic and sophisticated with the twist of a split toe.

These models are also offered with features and add-ons of the highest level (all included in the price).

  • The famous Mario Bemers’s leather sole with rubber injections for maximum flexibility and comfort
  • 3 widths (E, EE and EEE)
  • Metal tips
  • Hand nailed brass monograms
  • Hand nailed number of the shoe (1/10)
  • Shoe trees
  • A suede travel protection bag
  • A magnificent wooden box with your initials engraved on it.

The “intrecciato” model (woven leather) is offered for 1,150 euros with all the above features and add-ons included. Even shipment is included, no matter where you live in the world.

The cordovan leather model is offered for 1,250 euros with all the above features and add-ons included. Even shipment is included, no matter where you live in the world.

Strictly limited to 10 pairs by model. Delivery time : 4-5 weeks.

Model 4 : The “SALVADOR” Sneaker

The market of sartorial sneakers is probably the most dynamic of all men’s shoes, in recent years.

Why ? Simply because it’s an answer to a specific need expressed by many sartorially inclined gentlemen to acquire casual comfortable shoes without giving up the taste for beautiful leather, elegant designs and refined finishing.

For these exclusive models, in my opinion some of the most elegant and versatile on the market, Mario and Luca went for uncompromising quality and sophistication in terms of materials and design.

The first model is made of calf leather (hand painted in blue) with a beige braid in precious sought-after Peccary leather, with the Mario Bemer trademark leather crescent sewn into the shoe.

The second model is made of pebble grain leather with a yellow braid in precious sought-after Peccary leather, with the Mario Bemer trademark leather crescent sewn into the shoe :

These two luxurious and versatile models are offered at a VERY fair price of 540 euros, shipment included, wherever you live in the world.

Strictly limited to 15 pairs by model. Delivery time : 3 weeks.
