PG Selection for the Holiday Season (Part 2)

PG Selection for the Holiday Season (Part 2)

Gentlemen,

As promised, here is Part 2 of the PG selection, for a few more sartorial gift ideas.

Last year we enjoyed great success with the limited edition of two Neapolitan ateliers which we continue to cherish at PG : Calabrese 1924 (ties and pocket squares) and Omega Guanti (luxury gloves).

In the earlier editions we received more orders than we were able to supply of both Calabrese ties and Omega gloves; thus, we decided to launch two new batches of these sartorial wonders crafted by Annalisa Calabrese and Mauro Squillace.

To receive your order before Christmas, please contact the ateliers directly during this upcoming week.

Selections include :

SELECTION 5 : 12 FOLD TIES AND POCKET SQUARES BY CALABRESE 1924

This small batch of four different models of ties (only 10 ties per design) is its own sartorial animal, both aesthetically and technically.

Annalisa Calabrese has, once again, used a new way of crafting high-end neckwear ties with silk (from Como), using a dual method of printing to render a unique dimensional look, using an ultra-light 12 fold technique.

Each necktie is first printed with a bright single color on the underside, followed by a second phase of pattern-printing on the top side of the tie. The result of this technique renders an overall dimensional appearance embedded with bright and deep colors with a harmonious presentation. Personally, I haven’t witnessed such deep and sophisticated colors, mingled with unique patterns, on this essential accessory. Very elegant and breathtaking!

Most notable is that these ties are 12-fold, requiring much more silk than standard ties–as the silk is folded 12 times onto itself.

A 12-fold tie is a rare thing, and I’m not even sure any such necktie is available today on the sartorial market. In terms of thickness and weight, the ties are stunning in terms of finesse, with no lining and no interlining, except a short piece where the knot is tied, with the weight of the tie being as light as a feather.

For this holiday season curation, Annalisa has selected four of the most “current” stylish yet timeless patterns :

Model 1 : 12 fold tie with orange, brown and blue pattern

Modele 2 : 12 fold tie with blue and orange pattern

Model 3 : 12 fold tie with brown and pink pattern

Model 4 : 12 fold tie with red and blue pattern

Attention : Only TEN PIECES each of these 12-fold have been produced. They are offered at 219 euros (shipment not included, but given the light weight of the accessory, the cost should be nominal). The ties are shipped in a beautiful Calabrese white box which may be used to protect or pack the product when you travel.

White silk pocket squares with contrasted hems

To complement the special edition ties, Annalisa Calabrese also crafted a batch of white silk pocket squares with contrasted edges (hand hemmed of course) in 33X33 cm format.

The versatility of these pocket squares are particularly evident, with six different edge colors : Wine Red, Sky Blue, Marine Blue, Grey, Olive Green and Gold Yellow.

These timeless sartorial accessories have also been produced in small batches (from 9 to 25 depending on the color) and are offered for 52 euros (shipment not included, but cost is mitigated due to the light weight of the accessories). SELECTION 6 : OMEGA GUANTI LUXURY GLOVES

This selection is a small batch of exceptional gloves designed and crafted by our friend Mauro Squillace, owner and master craftsman of the superlative and precious OMEGA Guanti atelier in Naples.

Omega is one of the very last glove makers on earth who crafts gloves strictly in a traditional and artisanal way in Naples, Italy. At Omega, everything is dyed, cut and sewn by hand directly inside the artisanal atelier.

These beautiful traditional gloves not only provide warmth during the cold months of the year, but can also bring great sartorial flair to almost every outfit and behave as a beautiful accessory.

For the introduction of this second PG limited edition, Mauro has designed and created four different models, offered in two colors – except the crochet driving glove – with super-luxurious finishing (such as pure cashmere lining). Each model in each color has been produced in groups of 10 pairs, with three sizes available (8, 8,5 and 9).

Model 1 : Plunged lambskin classic glove (black or brown)

The leather selected by Mauro for this model is a full grain plunged lambskin. A “plunged” lambskin is a skin that has been totally immersed into a dyeing barrel (not just covered on the surface). Everything in Omega’s gloves is strictly made by hand inside the Neapolitan atelier, including the dyeing (plunging), the cutting and the sewing. The lining is made of pure cashmere for exceptional softness and comfort.

These gloves are proposed at a fair price of 85 euros (taxes and shipment not included). Please note that if you live outside the EEC, no taxes apply.

Model 2 : Plunged lambskin driving glove (black or hazelnut)

This superb “driving style” model in full grain plunged lambskin is offered with a small leather strap and snaps (to adjust for size). The lining is made of pure cashmere for exceptional softness and comfort.

It is proposed to you by Omega at a fair price of 125 euros (taxes and shipment not included). Please note that if you live outside the EEC, no taxes apply.

Model 3 : Lambskin and crochet driving glove

Be prepared: this wonderful driving glove (with a double button closing system, exclusively for PG) is more than a “simple glove” : It is a strong sartorial statement whether you drive a Maserati or a Fiat Cinquecento (as Sonya and I do in Paris)!

The inside of the glove is made of premium quality lambskin and the back is in traditional crochet which give this fabulous glove an unmissable vintage look and feel.

We are proud to be able to propose this marvel (in very limited quantities) at an unheard of price of 95 euros (taxes and shipment not included). Please note that if you live outside the EEC, no taxes apply.

Model 4 : Peccary leather gloves (tobacco or Dakar-yellow)

Probably the most luxurious leather in the glove industry ! The Peccary is a small boar from Peru whose skin has gained a worldwide reputation for its great quality, its extreme softness and its fantastic flexibility. Moreover, the Peccary skin has the rare capacity to react to aging and to the patina of time, making it more and more beautiful as time passes.

The Peccary skin is quite easy to recognize : the Peccary hairs are always grouped by three, and express an easy-to-spot three-dot pattern on the leather (this is the feature that many glove counterfeiters try to emulate by superimposing a similar pattern onto skin from other animals). On these two exclusive models, the lining is, once again, in pure cashmere.

Once again, we are proud to be able to propose this fabulous glove (in very limited quantities) at a very fair price of 190 euros (taxes and shipment not included). Please note that if you live outside the EEC, no taxes apply.

Sizing guide

Each model in each color has been produced in groups of 10 pairs, with three sizes available (8, 8,5 and 9). To select your size, simply use a sewing tape measure and follow the instructions on the sketch below (click the picture to enlarge) :

This chart takes into account one of the first principles in glove sizing : a glove should not be too easy to slip on. If you can immediately slip into a new glove, it’s probably because it is too large.

How to order ?

If you wish to order a pair, please send an e-mail to specialeditions@omegasrl.com and indicate clearly the model chosen, the color, the size and your delivery address (in order to calculate the shipment cost). A pro-forma invoice will then be sent to you as well as a secured link for payment.
