I am often asked on the controversial subject of tie knots in general and on my favorite knot in particular. Here is what I consider to be THE most interesting, becoming and practical knot… though not the easiest to achieve.
Meet Old Bertie, that our friend Marc Guyot views, consistent with his natural restraint and quintessential tolerance, as the only knot worth tying.
Yet, I can only agree with him: Old Bertie allows us to have our cake and eat it too.
– It is more substantial than a four-in-hand yet provides equal possibilities for symmetry.
– It is less symmetrical than a Windsor while providing nearly equal hold.
In short THE perfect knot that will also please seekers of elegant arches and a perfectly constructed dimple.
What else could you ask for?
